Surgery... Complete!

We're home! Everything went awesome! It started at 5am this morning when we woke up and made our way to IHOP, which isn't open until 6 these days, darn recession! Needless to say that didn't dampen the spirit. We eventually scarfed down a happy face pancake, two eggs, two slices of bacon, four slices of french toast, one chocolate milk and one orange juice, operation "stuffing", complete! Went home and took showers, played in the bath, and watched Sesame Street and then off to the zoo with Oma. He loved every minute of it and it was a beautiful day.

On our way to the hospital he got a little freaked, but that was the only time. He went into surgery great, and EARLY! The surgery before us cancelled and he was under by 2 pm. He was awake by four-ish and we left a little before seven. They were unable to straighten the thir dand fourth combined digit, it is a misformed joint, it was not just flesh that was causing it to curve. He is on some pretty huge pain killers, including morophine and vikaden. He is still saying it hurts occasionally. Mostly he is just using all his polite nerves in his body and begging us to take the cast off.

Thank you so much to everyone who was praying and thinking of us today. We totally felt all of it. We ran into someone we knew in every facet of surgery today. From registration, to the social worker, to the nurses, to the child life specialist! It is such a blessing to be surrounded by people who care! All your encouraging words, voice mails, and texts mean the world! The pain medications will be wearing off around midnight so pray that we get some sleep and he can keep the second dose down, it is really hard to get the meds in him!
