As many of you know we took an accidental trip to Oklahoma this weekend. Last weekend David’s brother Daylan and our new sister-in-law Sandra got married. We were suppose to fly down for the weekend and attend the wedding. Unfortunately (at the time) David had booked our tickets for the wrong weekend. So last minute we ended up driving down to the wedding (see post “OKLAHOMA”.) Needless to say after much finagling with Orbitz we could not do anything with the trip we had planned. So we made lemonade out of lemons and deciding to take a marriage get-away to good ol’ Oklahoma! This turned out to be the trip of a life time!
Thursday- we flew into the beautiful Oklahoma City (in case you can’t tell I am being very sarcastic there). I convinced David to upgrade our rental car to the weekend special- a red Chrysler Sebring convertible, he was mortified! I was in heaven (actually I was in heaven only when we had the heat blasting and the windows up, with the top down, I know, so embarrassing, but oh so much fun!)
NOTE- if traveling to OKC and getting a rental car, do not get a convertible because there are many pockets around the city that smell like poop, and it is very hard to escape this stench when you have a convertible, look for a rental car with a HEPA air filter instead!
We drove around in our convertible, ate Italian twice, went to the mall, and went to bed early… my dream day!
Friday- we woke up late, worked on our VisionAir goals, went to lunch with Daylan and Sandra and then made our way to Tulsa to see our friends Mike and Renae Goolsbay. We stayed up all night (1:30 am, close enough) talking. Like back in my dorm days!
Saturday- we saw Dan In Real Life, great movie. And the Goolsbay’s introduced me to the world of speed Scrabble, what a game! Then that evening David and I went to Barnes and Noble and hung out, and once again, we stayed up talking.
Sunday- bloody Sunday… just kidding, a little U2 never hurt anyone!
Sunday we got to go to Mike and Renae’s church, Destiny Church. It was awesome! If we lived in or near Tulsa, we would definitely call it our home! We were looking forward to experiencing Destiny Church all week, and it did not disappoint. Towards the end of the service David had to go to the bathroom, so off he went. And of course at that time Mike called us up on stage, we had no idea, and of course David was in the bathroom. He eventually came out, and he had washed his hands. P.Mike then proceeded to have us cup our hands, mine over David’s. And then he asked his church to give to us. I think I started crying before anyone even came up. Needless to say we sat there for a while, and what seemed like everyone made their way from their seats and put money in our hands, which quickly overflowed into our laps. And we just sat there, being blessed by complete strangers, who knew nothing about us, or our story, and wept. It was the most humbling thing that has ever happened to me. We are still trying to process the whole thing, David asked me today if we had dreamt about that or if it really happened. I have never experienced such unconditional love or blessing. Wow.

When we got home we looked at Tre’s medical bills from his last surgery, David called today and tried to settle with some of them, and we got some discounts, all said and done we had $400 over the cost of his medical bills. We still can’t believe it!
Hey guys! It was great to worship with you. You have friends in Tulsa whenever you are close by!
