D-ism

I found out yesterday that Demetrius punched Jesus in the face.
Yup, you heard it!
A few weekends ago we had a babysitter while David and I went on a little get away. Apparently during the puppet show about Palm Sunday Demetrius just stood up, walked over and punched Jesus right in the face! He even fell off his donkey.

I'm really sorry Jesus. I will work on this.

snapshots

A few snap shots, since my brain is not fully operating due to lack of sleep!

1. There is a little bit of jealousy around here. D peed all over the baby's crib, and he continually asks me, "Has our baby died yet?"
"No D, he hasn't died, please stop peeing on his crib and his clothes."
In all seriousness, the poor guy is missing all the attention and just trying to make sense of things in his mind.

2. Along the jealousy lines, Tre filled the baby's drawers with every rubber snake we have (which is quite a few), and wrapped them through the drawer handles and door knobs, he said they are for protection, like what's on ambulances... I am not so sure.

3. We are having a soap party here tomorrow night, if you are local, come help us package up soap for The Adventure Project! And don't forget to purchase your soap here to help provide training to locals in India to fix broken wells in their region!

4. Do you remember this post, about the boys in my back seat... well my children don't all fit in the back seat right now. So Tre rides up front, in his car seat with the airbag off. Apparently thisi s NOT illegal, just ill-advised. Pray for safety, and that we can save money and get a bigger car soon:)

5. The three year old boy who is with us for a short time will be leaving soon so that our baby's older sister, who is 20 months old, and a GIRL can move in (yes donations and advice are gratefully appreciated, 2 year old girl, what do they wear? What do they play with? How do I mother a girl?). She will be with us for a while.
THUS we are done growing our family! We went from two to four in just a few days, and it seems like all of them are very LONG term:)
We are joyfully overwhelmed and thankful. (I don't know if David is at the thankful stage yet, but he's on his way;)

We heart Taco Bell

We passed a Taco Bell earlier today (alright, we were actually pulling up to it for lunch), one of my favorite dining establishments. (One that I can only indulge in when my husband is not around, for his awful berating of my choice restaurants.)

And D said in his most excited voice ever, "Oooooh, there's Taco Bell!" kicking and giggling, he was so excited. "Look Mema look!"
"There she is!" I replied, trying to match his level of enthusiasm.

Then he said, "Awwww, isn't it beautiful and cute?!"

Yes it is D, and that's why you should belong to me, because we both are in love with Taco Bell, and think she is beautiful and cute.

Grateful

"A grateful heart doeth good like a medicine."

I love how grateful D has become. Each night as I am praying over him he asks me, "Tell Papa God thank you for..."
and each night his list is different. And each night he is grateful.

And it is such a good reminder for me, if this little boy who has lived in eight different homes, and has been uprooted, surrounded by strangers, made to learn to new rules, customs, expectations, lost friends, lost family, lost relatives...
If he is grateful every night, I sure as heaven can be too.

Tonight his list included Papa, Tre (who makes the list every time), Jon, Matthew (the man who cut his hair today), Blake, apple crisp, licks from Scout, the park and guns.

What are you grateful for today?

Treism and Super D-ism

Now I have two to start documenting...

So our newest cute, charming, and funny Super D curses like a sailor:) It is mostly only when he is mad or playing sports:) Today we are walking through a store and he is "chatting" on a play cell phone. He hangs up. I say, "So what did they say?" And he loudly responds in his really super cute innocent two year old voice...
"They said FUCK!"
Ooops.
I wonder who he was chatting with?!
(At this time Tre kept asking over and over, what does fuck mean? I just ignored him, I can explain it later, not in King Soopers.)

With the new children coming through our house as of late I have been saying a lot of "We don't (fill in the gap with the latest wrong-doing) in this house." Because if I say, "saying Fu@* is bad!", they will equate my dislike of the behaviors they've learned from their loved ones into a dislike of their loved ones. Their behaviors are normal to them, and often survival skills they've learned, so I have been using this phrase "this house" often...

Today Tre lied, he said he didn't hit Super D, when in fact he had (it was accidental, while swinging around a string... so it wasn't a big deal, but he still lied!) So as I am marching him to his room for timeout I am saying, "We do not lie in this house because..." So I left him on his bed for five minutes to think about what I had said.

When I returned I said, "So what did you think about during your time out?"
Tre, "Can we lie if we move back to our old house? Cause I think we should move back there."

(please judge my parenting skills in secret.)
